Thursday, April 22nd, Hardin County Hospice recognized all the volunteers by having a Luau. fun was shared by all with great people, food, and cake!
Trained volunteers are a special part of the Hospice team. Each patient and family is specifically matched with a volunteer who is best able to meet their needs and personalities.

Services may include: respite time while the caregiver leaves the house or rests, running errands, or simply sharing coffee and conversation.

Volunteers not only see visit patients in their houses, but they also work in the Hardin County Hospice assisting Rita Shope, Volunteer Coordinator, and help with the many fundraisers that are given by Hardin County Hospice.

The volunteer listens to concerns and helps with tasks that can become difficult to complete because of the increased responsibilities of care giving.

Above all, volunteers provide extra support for families and patients.

Years before Hardin County Hospice, I worked for twenty five plus years in the hospital setting working in all areas, primarily Pediatrics.  I also worked as a nurse and manager of weight loss business and worked for home health for a short time.  I worked for Paramed doing insurance exams and Mary Kay Cosmetics Business consultant for twenty plus years.  I have worked with Hardin County Hospice since July 1999.  My most rewarding experience during Hardin County Hospice is working with patients and families during a very trying time, working with very dedicated, wonderful volunteers, and helping others.  In my leisure, I enjoy scrap booking, traveling, cleaning, organizing, and having fun!!
